In response to the Department of Health’s drive to roll-out self-help
initiatives to help patients improve their conditions, a new CD is now
available
The link between stress, anxiety and health is widely accepted. This new CD
has been developed as part of a tool-kit in a holistic approach to health
and is the first offering in a series of CDs.
8 August 2007 – Bromley, UK – Four S Records today announced the launch
of a new CD ‘Stillness Now’ developed specifically to fit the Department of
Health’s Expert Patients Programme (EPP). This new initiative is a NHS-
based training programme that provides opportunities to people who live
with long-term chronic illnesses to develop new skills to better manage their
condition better on a day-to-day basis. Set up in April 2002, it is based on
research from the US and UK over the last two decades which shows that
people living with chronic illnesses are often in the best position to know
what they need in managing their own condition. Provided with the
necessary 'self-management' skills, they can make a tangible impact on
their disease and quality of life more generally.
‘Stillness Now’ teaches a radical way of breathing based on ancient
principles while incorporating western techniques that can promote better
health and prolong life. A control group of both genders with ages ranging
from 30-75 who took part in the breathing exercises featured in Stllness
Now showed that a staggering 98% reported feeling calmer, 94% showed
improved breathing capacity and over 85% said they were notably physically
calmer and more relaxed.
Four S Records was borne out of a chance meeting between Susan Smith, a
renowned psychotherapist with more than 20 years’ experience in the field
and businesswoman Sabine Smith. Stillness Now is the first in a series of
CDs which also include Movement Now, Relaxation Now and Meditation
